Grêmio ‘to use’ Gabriel Mec sale funds to pay R$19m debt to agent | OneFootball

Grêmio have agreed with agent Giuliano Bertolucci to settle R$19,012,850.01, with the club using proceeds from Gabriel Mec’s sale to Porto. The debt was acknowledged in court.

ESPN initially reported the agreement, set out in a joint court filing on 3 September, which sets payment in two instalments. The first, R$6 million, falls due within five days of Grêmio receiving Porto’s first tranche or by Sunday, whichever comes first.

The balance of R$13,012,850.01 is due within five days of the remaining Porto tranches or by 20 October this year. The total covers principal, interest, a contractual penalty and legal fees. The case stems from services provided by Bertolucci in Pepê’s move to Porto in early 2021.

Part of Mec’s transfer fee is ringfenced for this settlement and cannot be diverted. Grêmio sold the 18-year-old attacking midfielder for €11 million, R$64.9 million, retaining 80% of his economic rights.

If any instalment is missed when due, the outstanding sum will be enforced in full and increased by 120% of the CDI rate. In that scenario, revenues from broadcasting and audiovisual rights, competition participation fees, prize money and player transfers would be subject to seizure.
