According to Globo.com, Grêmio vice-president of football Antônio Dutra Júnior said Luís Castro remains in charge and there is no prospect of changes to the coaching staff, stressing firm backing from the club’s hierarchy.
He was speaking after a come-from-behind defeat to Corinthians at the Arena in the 18th round of the Brasileirão. Dutra Júnior said he believes the forthcoming pause in the calendar can help the side improve.
He described the support as institutional, citing the president, six vice-presidents and the football department. He acknowledged the difficulties but expressed belief in the capacity for recovery in the work under way.
On the transfer window, he confirmed the club are working to strengthen. He said departures may occur and that the expectation is to make the necessary replacements and bolster the squad for the remainder of the season.
He added that players will begin holidays at the start of the World Cup pause, then the squad will have 35 days of preparation before competitions resume.
