Grêmio’s new New Balance shirts set launch-day sales record

Grêmio’s new New Balance shirts set a launch-day sales record at the club’s official store on Thursday, with more than 3,000 sold, according to Globo.com. The tally was described as unprecedented.

The shirts then debuted later that day in a 2-0 victory over Vitória at the Arena, in the seventh round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

The club unveiled its 2026 home and away playing shirts on Tuesday.

The American brand has replaced Umbro, which had supplied Grêmio’s kit since 2015.

To promote the change, the club and manufacturer distributed 100 envelopes on Wednesday in strategic spots across Porto Alegre and in towns in Rio Grande do Sul with links to the team. Anyone who found one received a new shirt as a gift.
