Grimaldo transfer to FC Bayern? Track to Munich is cold

FC Bayern have recently been linked with the signing of Alejandro Grimaldo, but it has now emerged that the Leverkusen star is anything but hotly tipped for a move to Munich. A transfer currently seems extremely unlikely.

The rumor mill surrounding Alejandro Grimaldo has been churning over the past few days, with kicker and BILD both reporting that FC Bayern are looking closely at the Bayer Leverkusen left-back.

However, the latest developments have noticeably dampened speculation. According to BILD, Bayer Leverkusen would be willing to hold talks in principle – but only with clubs from abroad. FC Barcelona are said to already be interested in the La Liga club. The player himself has stressed in the past that he would like to return to his Spanish homeland.

In addition, Leverkusen do not want to lose their top player to a direct Bundesliga rival under any circumstances. A transfer to FC Bayern is categorically ruled out from Leverkusen’s point of view.

Grimaldo himself has developed impressively since his arrival at Leverkusen in the summer of 2023. With his dangerous set-pieces, his offensive strength and his variability, he is now one of the best left-backs in the league. It is precisely this profile that makes him a potential Bayern candidate.

Topic Grimaldo „cold“ – Bayern waiting for Guerreiro decision

However,Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg now provides clarity: „According to our information, the topic is currently cold. Eberl and Freund are not working on the Grimaldo issue,“ emphasizes the Bayern insider.

One decisive reason: Raphael Guerreiro’s future at FC Bayern is still completely open. The Portuguese has a valid contract until the summer of 2026 and has an almost identical profile to Grimaldo – offensively strong, intelligent and technically adept. The club management wants to decide soon whether to extend Guerreiro’s contract or realign the position in the long term.

Until this decision has been made, an expensive transfer – Grimaldo is currently 30 years old – makes little sense for those responsible. Plettenberg confirms: „There has been no contact at all between Bayern and the player, nor between Bayern and Leverkusen.“
