Groningen host Fortuna Sittard in the Eredivisie at Euroborg on Sunday, 25 January 2026, with the fifth-placed hosts eyeing the European play-off picture and the visitors in 12th looking to build momentum away from home.
Groningen won the reverse fixture 2-1 in October and come into this one unbeaten in three league games, including a 2-0 victory at Heerenveen last time out. Fortuna drew at Go Ahead Eagles before losing to leaders PSV, and have taken only five points on their travels so far.
Injuries shape both squads. The hosts list Mats Seuntjens, Tika de Jonge, Robin Kelder and Yénio Holder as out. Fortuna are without Daley Sinkgraven, Justin Lonwijk, Jasper Dahlhaus, Ramazan Bayram and Luka Tunjić.
The hosts' route may run through control and resilience. They have seven clean sheets, average 51% possession and 80.11% pass accuracy this season, with Brynjolfur Willumsson on six league goals and Stije Resink supplying five assists. Fortuna have scored 28 but conceded 33. Their open-play cross accuracy of 23.36% suggests wide delivery could be a key outlet, with Kaj Sierhuis on six league goals and Mohammed Ihattaren leading with six assists.
A home win would strengthen Groningen's grip on fifth and keep them on course for the qualification play-offs. Fortuna, 12th, could climb the table and put daylight between themselves and the bottom end with a result in Groningen.
