Chelsea’s players have been absolutely slated for apparently ignoring some young Hull City mascots before the game on Friday.
Chelsea thrashed Hull 4-0 away from home in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday night, but there’s been a bit of a reaction due to the above.
Over reactions? For sure. But still, I think some of them might have a bit of a point here and I’m sure if the Chelsea players truly realised, they would have done things a bit differently.
The Championship side had lined up the excited youngsters near the away dressing room before kick-off at the MKM Stadium on Friday.
But in footage posted by the official club account, the Chelsea stars – led by captain Reece James – could be seen walking straight past the children.

In quotes cited by The Daily Mail, GB News presenter Michelle Dewberry wrote on X: ‘You should be ashamed your players act like this with these little boys. Instead, you’re proud and desperate to share it. Gross.’
Another said: ‘Chelsea admin watched this video and thought it was a great idea! In reality again they look like a bunch of entitled divas.’
A third user branded it a ‘terrible look’ and added: ‘Not one Chelsea player acknowledging or high-fiving the mascots. Who stole the soul?’
Even Chelsea fans themselves hit out at the video. Blues fan and TNT Sports reporter Olivia Buzaglo posted: ‘Oh this makes me sad (three upset emojis) just a smile, anything.’
She later added: ‘This is the first time I’ve seen this video & whilst it’s not the biggest deal in the world, a smile or a wave goes a long way for a child that might not get that opportunity again. That’s all.’
Another wrote: ‘We have a great video of our overpaid, arrogant and self-centered players walking past a bunch of kids and ignoring them. Great for social content (thumbs up emoji).’
‘(It would) be nice if they looked at the mascots at all, even a smile, a glance or a wave. Would mean the world to those kids,’ an X user fumed.
Friday night saw a domestic debut for Mamadou Sarr at Chelsea, and he knows he’s going to have limited time to impress before the summer.
Chelsea are warming up for what could be a busy summer, and there are reports that Elliot Anderson could be on the their list. It would take a massive bid to buy him though.
