Pep Guardiola admits Jack Grealish could leave Manchester City this summer after being left out of the squad to face Fulham.

City won 2-0 at Craven Cottage to secure third place and qualification for the Champions League thanks to goals from Ilkay Gundogan and Erling Haaland.

But Grealish’s omission has raised more questions about the Englishman’s future, having struggled for consistent game time this season.

“It was selection,” Guardiola said.

“The last two months, month and a half, there was five or six players at home every time and this time I decided for these guys.

“No more. I don’t have anything (to say).

“Of course Jack has to play. That’s the truth. He is an unbelievable player that has to play football every few days.

“It didn’t happen this season and last season neither and next season he needs to do it, with us or another place.

“I said with us or another place, yeah, but that’s a question of Jack, his agent and the club. If he stays, it will be fine, he’ll fight like he fought since day one to make the contribution but today is for something else.

“In the FA Cup final I rotated and Rico (Lewis) was not there, McAtee was not there, and Khusanov and Vitor. It’s the same. I try to move the players. Today it was Jack, no more than that explanation.”

Asked whether he is not happy with Grealish, Guardiola responded: “Who said I am not happy with him?

“I said in my words I am not happy with him?

“The last few games he didn’t play, he was on the bench. Rico, for me one of the favourites, plays a half and was not selected either (previously), McAtee played against Aston Villa and was exceptional, and other games was exceptional and today he was not selected too.

“Why don’t you ask me about McAtee for example? It’s not about personal. I don’t have any problems with the players.”
