Pep Guardiola believes Manchester City forward Erling Haaland is ‘better than ever’ after the forward’s double against Manchester United.

Haaland scored twice as City eased to a derby win at the Etihad on Sunday, taking his tally to the season to five goals in four Premier League games.

The Norwegian was the standout in the contest, impressing with his defensive work and showing a ruthless touch at the opposite end.

Haaland has now scored 16 goals in his last 10 appearances for club and country, while his brace against United saw him move past Didier Drogba for Premier League goals.

Guardiola believes this is the best-ever version of Haaland, eclipsing his 2022/23 treble-season performances in which the forward scored 52 goals in all competitions.

“Erling has been incredible since the start but this season he is better than ever. I would say better than the Treble year. He’s dynamic and I don’t judge him for the clearance, we want him to score goals and to help us.”
