Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Marc Guehi will make his Manchester City debut against Wolves tomorrow.
Guehi is a new signing at the Etihad after arriving from Crystal Palace for a fee of £20m. The England international joined the Citizens in a cut-price deal, with his contract at Palace having been due to expire in the summer.
Guehi bolsters Guardiola’s defensive options at an important time, with John Stones, Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol all sidelined.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Guardiola confirmed Guehi will feature tomorrow but warned the centre-back is not the solution to recent defensive issues.
“Yes, yes. Really good [signing] considering he is a central defender. Really good,” Guardiola said when asked if Guehi will debut tomorrow.
“He is a player for the national team and was a captain last season. I have a feeling yes, but the fragility is not just about one player. I know the solution and it’s not about one player.
“We cannot lose games. Man City is so perfect that we cannot lose games. It is what it is. We have to change the dynamic to try to win games tomorrow and Wednesday.”
