Pep Guardiola will lead City for the 100th time in the Champions League proper when we face Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday.
The Catalan has taken charge of 99 games in the competition itself for the Blues, with two further games coming against Steaua Bucharest during qualifying for the 2016/17 edition.
So far, he’s guided us to 62 victories, with 19 draws and 18 defeats.
In that time, we’ve scored 234 goals and conceded just 111 times, giving us an overall goal difference of +123.
The standout campaign was obviously 2022/23, when we lifted the famous trophy for the first time in our history as part of a European Treble.
We became just the eighth club ever to achieve that feat, with Guardiola the first boss ever to do so with two different clubs.
After two successes in his time at Barcelona, Guardiola has been European champion three times as a coach.
He’s tied with Bob Paisley and Zinedine Zidane for the second most Champions League/European Cup triumphs, with Carlo Ancelotti’s tally of five leading the way.
The run to the final in 2020/21 was actually our most successful in terms of number of wins, claiming 11 victories in 13 games that year – while we won eight times in the season we actually brought the silverware home.
Across his time at Barcelona and Bayern Munich as well as City, Guardiola has overseen 183 Champions League games, winning 115 of them.
Only Ancelotti and Sir Alex Ferguson have managed in more, with Ancelotti winning 124 of his 218 and Ferguson claiming 102 victories in 190 games.
Congratulations to Pep on the latest landmark in his exceptional coaching career!
