Guarín spent one year with Vasco from 2019 to 2020, making 15 appearances and scoring three goals.

In April, during the Legends Cup in Curaçao, he revealed he had overcome alcohol dependence in recent years and has used his experience to support others facing the same struggle.

Now 40, the Colombian speaks warmly about the club and has a tattoo of the cross of Malta to mark a period of strong identification with São Januário.

Independiente Medellín face Vasco at 19:00 Brasília time on Wednesday at the Atanasio Girardot in Colombia, the first leg of the play-offs for the last 16.
