Guerreiro ‘under consideration’ to replace Grimaldo at Leverkusen

Raphaël Guerreiro has emerged as a potential replacement for Alejandro Grimaldo at Bayer Leverkusen, with Grimaldo close to joining Atlético Madrid for around €25 million, Bild reports.

The versatile 32-year-old left-footer is a free agent after leaving Bayern Munich and brings extensive top-level experience.

Despite that, new head coach Carles Martínez is said to prefer a more pace-driven profile for the left-back role.

Lorient’s Arsène Kouassi, also on the radar of VfB Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt, is viewed as a strong fit.

The Burkina Faso international plays alongside Edmond Tapsoba and would likely cost around €20 million.
