Guido Rodríguez’s Valencia future is on hold, with no firm offer yet. According to Superdeporte, the club want him to stay but must juggle finances, contract length and the team’s final league position.

Signed in January for six months with the aim of continuing, the Argentine’s status remains uncertain. He arrived with Sadiq on a permanent and Unai on loan, and eye-catching displays, including at the Sánchez Pizjuán, are increasing competition for his signature.

Valencia see him as the profile they lost when Enzo Barrenechea departed last summer, a key role in Corberán’s set-up. Santamaría, a different option, started well but has struggled, notably at La Cartuja about six weeks ago in the opponents’ second goal.

Rodríguez is still awaiting clarity on contract length, salary and next season’s project. Interest is building in Europe and in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and parts of South America, so Valencia may need to move quickly to keep him.

At his unveiling he said the five-month deal was down to time pressures and negotiation, adding he wanted to return to Spain and this was the way to do it. He was not called by Argentina this window, yet remains in Lionel Scaloni’s thoughts, which could delay any decision and complicate Valencia’s priority to secure a holding midfielder this summer.
