Serhou Guirassy started the tally with a convincing 3-0 win for Guinea against Somalia in the World Cup qualifier that took place in the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala. The Dortmund striker scored following a corner with his left foot in the 22nd minute to take his team a goal up, and was on the pitch for Syli National for a total of 85 minutes before being substituted off. With this win, Guinea climbed to third place in the Group G table (10 points).
Gregor Kobel had a successful start to the World Cup qualifiers with the Swiss national team. During the decisive 4-0 win against Kosovo, the BVB keeper only had to make one save (67), and otherwise had little to do.
Meanwhile, Daniel Svensson missed out on a complete victory with the Swedish national team, who were unable to secure more than a 2-2 (1-0) draw in Slovenia in World Cup Qualifying Group B. The final score was decided by a goal in the last few minutes. Svensson played for the entire game.
Cole Campbell played for the USA U20s national team, who celebrated a 4-1 win in their friendly against Morocco.
Italy’s U21s also had a successful start to the qualifiers for the 2027 European Championship. The team beat Montenegro 2-1. Borussian Filippo Mane was part of the squad, but was on the bench for the match.
