Gus Poyet has applauded Sunderland’s hierarchy for what he called an extraordinary summer recruitment drive that has underpinned their start on returning to the Premier League.
“Well, great decision in the summer.” “I have to be honest.” “I think the board of Sunderland this summer, they made an extraordinary decision on which players they needed to bring,” he told Sky Sports News.
“He adapted very well to the Premiership, changing many, many players, which is quite incredible.” “Overall the club now is very well run and the connection and the understanding with the coaches is fantastic. So I’m not surprised about how well they’re doing.”
Following promotion, the Black Cats signed 14 players and spent in excess of £150 million.
Regis Le Bris’ side have 30 points from 21 Premier League matches and sit five points off the top four.
