Gus Poyet believes Wilson Isidor can still make a contribution for Sunderland despite slipping down Regis Le Bris’ pecking order and growing talk of a summer move.

Sunderland Echo reports that the striker began the Premier League season brightly, scoring four in his first nine league games, but has not scored since October as Brian Brobbey’s arrival has reduced his chances.

Isidor has not started a league match since December, logging 83 minutes of Premier League action since the turn of the year. Le Bris has acknowledged the 25-year-old’s frustration and has spoken of ongoing dialogue over expectations and areas to improve.

Clubs such as Everton and Besiktas have been linked in recent weeks, yet Poyet maintains the forward could still offer value to the squad. He argues the question is less about talent and more about whether his attributes fit what the head coach wants for that role.

Poyet added that only the coach truly knows what profile is required for the position, and that selection can shift as plans evolve. He remains part of Le Bris’ squad as Sunderland balance competition up front with his development.
