Palmeiras returned to training on Monday at the Academia de Futebol, starting preparations for Wednesday’s CONMEBOL Libertadores round of 16 opener against Cerro Porteño-PAR at Nubank Parque, kick-off 19:00, after a 0-0 draw with Internacional on Sunday.

According to Nosso Palestra, players who logged more than 45 minutes against Internacional did indoor recovery work, while the rest took part in small-sided technical drills set by Abel Ferreira’s staff.

The main development was Gustavo Gómez, out of the last three matches with a right thigh injury, who began his physical transition and joined the opening phase of the session with the group.

His return marks an important step in rehabilitation and could expand Ferreira’s options for the decisive run of the season.

Bruno Fuchs also advanced, returning to the pitch two weeks after appendicitis surgery and starting his transition with individual work.

Khellven and Paulinho, both nursing right thigh issues, completed physiotherapy on the pitch and indoors alongside the club’s health and performance staff.

Palmeiras and Cerro Porteño form the most-played international matchup in Libertadores history, with 18 meetings. The record reads 10 Palmeiras wins, five draws and three defeats, across group stages in 1999, 2001, 2005, 2006, 2023, 2025 and 2026, plus last-16 ties in 2018 and 2022, when Palmeiras progressed.
