Corinthians beat Peñarol 2-0 at Neo Química Arena in the Libertadores on Thursday, with goals from Gustavo Henrique and Jesse Lingard. Meu Timao notes the centre-back is now second in the club’s scoring chart this year on three.

Henrique had already struck in the 3-0 win over Ponte Preta in the 2026 opener, and against Santa Fe. In that Libertadores tie he volleyed in and set up Raniele to seal a 2-0 victory.

Lingard moved to two goals for the club, after scoring the 1-0 winner against Barra on his Copa do Brasil debut. He sits joint fourth alongside Gabriel Paulista, Kayke, Breno Bidon and Matheus Bidu, and is the first Englishman to score in those competitions.

Yuri Alberto leads with five in 20 games, while André Luiz is third with three in 22. Others on the list include João Pedro Tchoca, Rodrigo Garro, Dieguinho, Gui Negão, Memphis Depay, Raniele, Vitinho and André Ramalho.

Suspended after a third yellow card against Vasco, Henrique will miss Sunday’s trip to Mirassol at 20:30 at Estádio José Maria de Campos Maia, in the 14th round of the Brasileirão. Corinthians are 14th on 15 points and top Libertadores Group E with nine.
