Gustavo Henrique played down fatigue as Corinthians enter a packed run of fixtures following their 0-0 derby with Palmeiras.

The centre-back started Sunday night’s 11th-round clash at Neo Química Arena. According to Meu Timao, he urged team-mates to rest well and stay ready rather than dwell on the strain.

He noted Fernando Diniz had made few substitutions in his first two matches, and introduced them later than predecessor Dorival Júnior, so whoever is picked must be 100 per cent.

One of the squad’s senior figures, Henrique said his minutes are managed and he highlighted the club’s physiology staff. Even so, he accepted there is not enough time to recover fully between games, so nutrition and sleep are vital to keep standards high.

Corinthians have been dealing with injuries early in the campaign. Left-back Fabrizio Angileri sat out with muscular fatigue.

Having captained the side at times, Henrique is expected to be among the starters against Independiente Santa Fe of Colombia on Wednesday at 21:30, in the second round of the Copa Libertadores.
