According to Sport24, Gustavo Puerta will join Nottingham Forest and immediately be loaned to Olympiacos.

Forest will pay 16 million euros to Racing Santander to activate the Colombia international’s clause, then send him to the Greek club, controlled by the same owner.

The midfielder had been pursued by Benfica and Forest during the closing stages of the window, with his destination unclear until now.

Evangelos Marinakis was central to the operation and had previously acknowledged the difficulty of the deal, given Puerta’s preference to move to Portugal and play at the Luz.

He is expected in Greece for medical examinations and is set to be presented shortly as a signing for the Greek runners-up.

The 23-year-old is therefore out of Benfica’s plans for the potential succession of compatriot Richard Ríos, with the club switching attention to other options.
