Guti has cast doubt on José Mourinho returning to Real Madrid, arguing others are in better condition for the role.
According to Glorioso 1904, the former Madrid midfielder praised Mourinho as a great coach but said he no longer appears at his peak.
Guti, who played for Real Madrid from 1996 to 2010, narrowly missed working under Mourinho after his arrival from Inter. He added that Mourinho comes from Fenerbahçe and took charge of Benfica at a difficult time, and that he would choose other candidates ahead of him.
Beyond Madrid, Chelsea and Newcastle are also monitoring the Benfica boss, with a return to Stamford Bridge the most recently discussed after Liam Rosenior was dismissed following poor results.
After Benfica’s 4-1 win over Moreirense, Mourinho declined to give a concrete answer when asked about overseas interest, keeping his distance from the current speculation.
