Erling Haaland has been voted as the Premier League Player of the Month for September.
The City striker was in blistering form across the month, scoring five league goals and also providing an assist.
He began September in sublime fashion by claiming a brilliant brace to help Pep Guardiola’s side record a dominant 3-0 Etihad win over Manchester United.
The 25-year-old then demonstrated his predatory prowess once more by despatching a clinical strike away at the Emirates as City and Arsenal shared the points in a 1-1 draw.
The Norwegian international then rounded off the month by scoring a late double to help City seal an emphatic 5-1 league win over Burnley at the Etihad.
That double took Haaland to 133 City goals in total and saw him move into our all-time top 10 pantheon of goal scorers.
It also took Erling to 93 Premier League strikes overall and meant he has now scored more English top-flight goals than any other Norwegian.
“I’m really happy to win this award for a fourth time. It always means a lot, so thank you to everyone who voted for me. I also want to thank my teammates, the coaches and all the staff — we do everything together,” said Haaland.
“September was an important month for us as a team. We played some really good football, stayed unbeaten, and got important wins for our fans. I’m happy I could help the team with goals and performances.
“Now we just keep going — keep working hard every day, because there’s a tough schedule after the international break. Hopefully we can keep the same level and win even more games.”
Haaland fought off the rival claims of Daichi Kamada of Crystal Palace, Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh, Sunderland duo Robin Roefs and Granit Xhaka and Martin Zubimendi of Arsenal to claim the prize.
Everyone at Manchester City sends their congratulations to Erling on this latest award.
