Erling Haaland has enjoyed many a special moment in his first 200 games with City.
Whether lifting the Champions League, breaking the Premier League single season scoring record or hat-tricks aplenty, there’s been so much to savour so far.
As we celebrate his 200th appearance for the Club at the start of his fifth season at the Etihad Stadium, what better time to map the course of his career through the medium of those milestone matches?
With so much anticipation about Haaland’s arrival in English football, the Community Shield at Leicester’s King Power Stadium proved something of a false start.
City were second best to Jurgen Klopp’s side, with Julian Alvarez scoring our only goal on his debut but Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez seeing our opponents come out on top.
Haaland missed a fairly simple chance late on and could be seen smirking to himself as the Liverpool fans jeered him.
Given everything that followed that season, it’s fair to say he had the last laugh.
A day of incredible celebration at the Etihad Stadium as City lifted a fifth Premier League title under Pep Guardiola and third in three years.
It was Haaland’s first though of course and the Norwegian had been pivotal to it, breaking the individual season goalscoring record in the Premier League with 36 strikes in the league alone.
It was the same opponents for Haaland’s 100th game as it was in his 50th but at a very different point of the year.
This game was our first of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign following another historic year in which we’d sealed the fourth title in a row.
Haaland immediately looked up to speed, rolling his marker and chipping the ball home for a goal that had all the hallmarks of our unique Norwegian.
Hope was high for another memorable season but that’s not how it turned out, although Haaland was still able to net 34 times in 48 games.
Another special Etihad day early last season, when Haaland scored twice in a convincing derby day victory.
Despite the gulf between the teams since Haaland’s arrival and for years before in terms of trophies, a victory against Manchester United remains one of the highlights of the season.
And it’s always clear just how much it means to Erling too.
His first came by sprinting in behind and dinking the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper before he had half the pitch to run into for his second of the day.
Two classic examples of the elite striker he is.
