Erling Haaland scored an 86th-minute winner for Norway in their 2-1 victory over Ivory Coast in the World Cup Round of 32.

By doing so, he raised his international goals tally to 60 in just 53 matches - making him the fastest player in history to reach the feat.

It also means the Blues’ striker and Co. have secured passage into the last-16 of the prestigious competition which sets up a mouth-watering tie with Brazil for a place in the quarter-finals.

The game’s first chance in Dallas fell to Haaland who sent a powerful header towards goal which was eventually blocked then cleared by the African nation.

Ivory Coast then grew into proceedings with Ghislain Konan firing just wide before Nicolas Pepe attempt was thwarted by a recovering Norway defender.

But after City’s talismanic frontman came close with another header, it was the European nation who broke the deadlock through Antonio Nusa.

The RB Leipzig man cut onto his right foot on the edge of the area and viciously whipped into the top corner to give his nation the lead heading into the break.

Norway came close again 20 minutes after the interval when Torbjorn Heggem latched onto a loose ball inside the area to fire towards goal, but his goalbound strike was cleared off the line by Amad Diallo.

The Ivorian forward then issued further frustration on their opponents when he weaved into the box and coolly slotted home to equalise.

With the tie looking likely to go to extra-time, Haaland delivered a moment to savour for his nation in the closing stages when the ball was slid into his path across the face of goal and he dispatched into an empty net.

It was his fifth goal at the tournament and sets up a last-16 meeting between Brazil and Norway on Sunday 5 July at 21:00 (UK).
