Habib Beye praised Marseille’s players for showing fight as they edged AJ Auxerre 1-0 on Friday, a night shaped by supporter protests at the Vélodrome.
Amine Gouiri struck late to clinch the win. According to GetFootballNewsFrance.com, Beye later linked a flat first half to the hostile context.
He pointed to organised demonstrations, including a 45-minute silence from the ultras, saying the team had expected it yet still struggled to process the atmosphere.
Marseille’s frustrations have simmered since early in the year, after exits from the UEFA Champions League and the Coupe de France. The away end was silent at Toulouse last week under a banner reading “You’re all sh*ts”.
Beye said the level improved after the break and he paid tribute to those who fought and stayed focused despite the circumstances around the club.
