Habib Beye has officially taken the reins at Olympique de Marseille, but his arrival comes with a surprising twist: the former Rennes coach has accepted a contract well below the Vélodrome’s usual standards. It's a bold decision, reflecting a project that aims for tighter financial control.

According to Le Phocéen, Beye agreed to a pay cut compared to what he was earning in Brittany, where he made around €90,000 per month. That's a stark contrast to Roberto De Zerbi, who left after earning €550,000 a month—one of the top salaries in Ligue 1.

The Franco-Senegalese coach has signed on until June 2027 and is bringing several assistants with him, in line with Medhi Benatia’s vision for stability. Beye will face immediate expectations with his first away game at Brest, where the pressure is already mounting.
