The disappointment at FC Bayern after the semi-final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain was huge. Harry Kane in particular was self-critical after the 1-1 draw in the second leg, complaining above all about Munich’s failure to capitalize on chances. At the same time, the Englishman was already looking to the future
After the spectacular 4:5 in the first leg, the 1:1 draw at the Allianz Arena was no longer enough for FC Bayern to reach the Champions League final. Harry Kane scored the equalizer in the fourth minute of stoppage time, but the Englishman was unable to prevent the team’s elimination
The disappointment immediately after the final whistle was correspondingly great: „Of course it’s hard to take straight after the game,“ explained Kane in the mixed zone
From the Bayern striker’s point of view, it was particularly bitter: „I think we had enough opportunities over the two games to get a different result, but it didn’t work out,“ said the 32-year-old self-critically
FC Bayern lacked the necessary precision in the final third in particular. „From our point of view, it was a bit wasteful in the attacking third, although we showed a lot of good soccer in midfield,“ analyzed Kane
The England international also specifically addressed the weaknesses in attacking play. „The last cross, the last pass, the last shot – it just didn’t work today,“ explained the goalscorer
Despite the disappointment, Kane was a fair loser and congratulated Paris Saint-Germain on reaching the final. „Congratulations to PSG. They took their chances in both games and that’s why we’re no longer in the competition,“ said the Bayern star
Like many of his team-mates, however, the attacker was also critical of the referee’s performance, with the scene involving Nuno Mendes in particular continuing to cause a lack of understanding among the Munich players
„They clearly should have been shown a second yellow card,“ said Kane, referring to the controversial situation in the first half
Despite the bitter loss, the Englishman did not want to talk down FC Bayern’s season as a whole. „Of course we had the dream of winning all the titles and we were good enough to do it, so it hurts at the moment,“ explained Kane

At the same time, the goalscorer emphasized that the season so far has been very positive overall. „You can’t just be judged on one game. We’ve had a fantastic season so far,“ said the 32-year-old
Looking ahead to the upcoming DFB Cup final against VfB Stuttgart, Munich still have a chance of winning the double, and that is precisely what Kane is now focusing on
„We have the chance to win the double,“ explained the Bayern star, adding that the team can be proud of their season so far despite their Champions League exit. „The team can be proud of what we’ve achieved so far,“ concluded Kane.
