The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) announced on its official website that national team defender Jaouen Hadjam will be absent for Algeria's match against Botswana scheduled for this Thursday.

Hadjam missing from the Greens' squad against Botswana

This match is part of the seventh round of Group G in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

The FAF specified in its statement that 22-year-old Hadjam left the squad after receiving permission from Swiss coach Vladimir Petković, and he will rejoin the group starting Friday.

Meanwhile, Botswana head coach Morena Ramoreboli highlighted the challenge of facing Youcef Belaïli and his teammates, praising the organization and strength of the Algerian side on the pitch.

Ramoreboli stated: "We are up against a strong opponent who plays with great balance. The Algerian national team has scored in every qualification match and has dominated play. We are ready and will do everything we can to achieve a positive result."It's worth noting that tonight's match will be officiated by a full Burundian refereeing team. Pacifique Ndabihawenimana will serve as the main referee, assisted by his compatriots Emery Niyongabo and Rénovat Bizumuremyi. The fourth official will also be Burundian, Georges Gatogato.
