After half a season of adaptation and a pre-season delayed by surgery, Amadou Haidara is back in the spotlight at RC Lens. L'Équipe reports that the Malian midfielder is highly anticipated within a side short on experience, particularly for the Champions League.
He and his coach Dino Toppmöller were pictured before a match in Como in late July.
During the Italian training camp in Monza later that month, some onlookers strained to spot him under the fierce sun. Sporting director Jean-Louis Leca quipped that, if anyone thought Haidara was missing, he was the only player he could see.
His nickname, Doudou, is widely used around the camp, a sign of how often he is being called upon.
For now, the hope is that he stays fit and finds rhythm through consecutive games, particularly with the Champions League in mind.
