Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has hailed head coach Vincent Kompany for his response to a recent racist incident, saying getting him was 'like hitting the lottery jackpot'.

According to BuLi News, Hainer praised the Belgian's character and leadership in public remarks.

Kompany delivered a 12-minute monologue that addressed the abuse suffered by Vinícius Junior and Gianluca Prestianni. He condemned racism and stressed that football, and society beyond it, must stand firmly against discrimination.

The address drew wide attention across the game and was regarded by many as a significant, courageous intervention.

Hainer said Kompany is not only outstanding on the pitch but also off it, and described the statement as intelligent, well considered and on target.

He added that it shook many people and gave courage, and reiterated Kompany is 'so good for us'.
