According to L’Équipe, Stade Rennais captain Hamari Traoré (31), whose contract expires in the summer, has been offered a renewal at the club. However, there is currently a big difference between the player’s demands and the club’s offer.
As well as fighting to feature in European competition next season, Rennes are also trying to tie down their captain to a new deal. An offer has been made, but an agreement is not close. The Breton club have offered the Malian international a two-year deal, but Traoré wants a three-year contract. There are also disagreements on the financial aspects of the deal, with the club’s captain feeling worthy of more substantial remuneration.
There are therefore considerable differences in the positions of the two camps, and it will now be up to Rennes to improve their offer. All the while, other European clubs are making advances on the experienced right-back. Ligue 1 rivals Olympique Lyonnais have displayed concrete interest in signing the player, whilst there are also discussions between the player’s entourage, Real Betis and Bayer Leverkusen.
