Bayern Munich drop points for the second Bundesliga game in a row after they drew 2-2 against Hamburg SV at the Volksparkstadion on Saturday night.

Harry Kane and Luis Diaz scored in both halves, but Bayern were left frustrated to leave the pitch with just one point, although the home side produced a spirited performance.

Hamburg started the game with a bang and created several early chances, with Kim Min-jae putting up a decent block to deny Fabio Vieira.

Moments later, Luka Vuskovic could not divert a free header from the corner.

It took a while for Bayern to get going, but after the opening ten minutes, Vincent Kompany’s men found the control that we generally associate with them.

Aleksandar Pavlovic found Michael Olise inside the box with a delightful pass, but the Frenchman could only hit the keeper.

Joshua Kimmich then squared up a pass to Lennart Karl inside the box, but the youngster’s left-footed effort was saved by Daniel Heuer Fernandes.

A big chance fell to Nicolas Capaldo, who made a darting run into the box and had a sniff at goal after he was put through on goal by Albert Sambi Lokonga.

Kimmich nearly gave the visitors the lead after he hit the woodwork from 20 yards out.

In the 32nd minute, Kimmich fouled Nicolas Remberg inside the box, and the referee pointed towards the spot, although it looked like a harsh decision.

Fabio Vieira stepped up, found the target and gave Hamburg the lead.

The lad, however, did not last long, as towards the end of the half, Harry Kane restored parity for Bayern. The Englishman finished from close range after Serge Gnabry did well to put the ball into the box from the left.

In the second half, Kompany took Karl off and brought Luis Diaz in, and the Colombian made an immediate impact.

Olise deserves a lot of credit for the goal. He plays a one-two with Gnabry before threading a world-class through pass to find Diaz, who finished superbly.

However, the home side did not lose hope, and shortly, they came close to scoring after Diaz made a horrendous backpass, which Vieira intercepted and tried to unleash a cracker. It went agonisingly wide off target.

In the 53rd min, Hamburg levelled, with a terrific header from Luka Vuskovic. The 18-year-old, currently on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, jumped high above Alphonso Davies and guided it past Neuer.

Bayern maintained possession and kept on applying pressure, but the best chance fell to Vieira, whose effort was cleared off the line by Alphonso Davies.

In the 80th minute, Kane played out a lovely pass to Josip Stanisic inside the box, and the right back’s effort from close range was blocked.

Towards the end of the normal time, Jamal Musiala’s deflected shot created panic, but the Hamburg goalkeeper produced an acrobatic save to deny it.

There were some nervy moments deep into extra time, and some penalty shouts, but in the end, Hamburg managed to earn a draw.
