Hamburg applied a lot of pressure on the away side during the first ten minutes, pinning Frankfurt in their half.

Resulting from this, Albert Sambi Lokonga opened the scoring in the 17th minute thanks to profiting off Nathan Collins' misplaced pass.

However, Collins redeemed himself with a neat pass which saw Nathaniel Brown free to cross it to the open Hugo Larsson who equalised promptly after the host's opener to make it 1-1.

Unhappy with his side's attacking ouptut in the first half, Dino Toppmöller brought in Oscar Höjlund at the half time for Bahoya in the hope of him getting his first Bundesliga goal this campaign.

Just after half time, Frankfurt had a golden chance as HSV's Heuer Fernandes was forced into a top save after a header from Ansgar Knauff following from a corner.

Frankfurt made a pair of changes brining in former Elversberg loanee Elias Baum and youngster Can Uzun for Rasmus Kristensen and Hugo Larsson respectively.

Frankfurt's Mahmoud Dahoud saw his shot saved from Heuer Fernandes in the 78th minute and the parry fell into the feet of Brown but the shot by Brown was blocked off the line by Hamburg.

During the 81st minute, Königsdörffer ran through the Eintracht half and found Fabio Vieira who slotted it past Zetterer. However, the goal was ruled out for offside via VAR as the Portugese midfielder was too far forward.

Baum went down with an injury in the 84th minute and was substituted off, despite only being brought on himself in the second half.

Fortunately for the away side, nine minutes were added on at the end of the tie for them to try and make good of the many chances they have been able to create.

Frankfurt remain in seventh in the table and Hamburg move to 13th to see off 2025 in the Bundesliga.
