Tottenham loanee Luka Vušković has launched himself into the spotlight with his performances at Hamburg this season, and the Bundesliga returnees are hopeful of extending the Croat’s stay beyond the summer.

“I’m a man of conviction,” HSV head coach Merlin Polzin told Bild. “I believe in things that are hard to imagine. Nevertheless, there’s a clear contractual agreement between the clubs.” As of now, Vušković will return to his parent club at the end of the season, but it’s not entirely ruled out that the 18-year-old will return.

Additionally, Polzin spoke of the good relationship between both clubs. “The communication with Tottenham has been extremely professional, but last summer and now,” he added. “We would be very interested in him continuing to wear the HSV jersey.”

Speaking last month, Luka spoke of playing alongside his brother, Mario, at HSV.

“It would be great to play alongside Mario at this incredible club,” he said.

Luka Vušković’s meteoric rise

The Croatian defender has shown plenty in his first six months in Germany to suggest he is destined for a future at the top of the European game. Vušković saw off competition from the likes of Harry Kane and Michael Olise to claim the fan-voted Bundesliga Player of the Season So Far award and continuing his upward trajectory, he has developed into a fan favourite at the Volksparkstadion.
