FC Schalke 04 and Turkish first-division side Gaziantep FK have reached an agreement over the loan of Hamza Mendyl. The left back will join the Süper Lig outfit on a season-long deal. The two sides have agreed not to disclose any further details of the transfer.
“This loan move offers Hamza a big chance to get regular match practice again,” said sporting director Rouven Schröder. “That would have been difficult to come by at Schalke, despite a good and concentrated preparation, which he no doubt completed. Therefore, this transfer makes sense from both a sporting and economic perspective. We wish Hamza all the best for the coming season.”
Hamza Mendyl joined the club from LOSC Lille in the summer of 2018. The Moroccan international spent the 2019/2020 season on loan at Dijon FCO. In total, Mendyl has made 21 competitive appearances for the Royal Blues.
