Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has admitted that he takes personal responsibility for the injury setback suffered by a member of his midfield ranks this week.
The player in question? Fermín López.
Youngster Fermín, of course, was dealt a fresh blow on the fitness front this past Tuesday.
This came upon confirmation coming to the fore that, amid the final stretch of his recovery from a prior injury, the 21-year-old picked up a thigh problem.
He is expected to spend the next three weeks on the sidelines as a result.
Speaking during a press conference on Wednesday evening, it therefore came as little surprise when Fermín’s name was quickly put to boss Hansi Flick.
And, in his response, Barcelona’s headmaster went on to admit that he has been left feeling ‘guilty’ by the Spaniard’s setback:
“Fermín’s injury is a shame. I feel a bit guilty about his injury. Nobody wanted him to go with the U-21s to the Olympics. I spoke to Fermín about this situation but I never spoke to the coach to tell him not to call him up…”
