Barcelona return to Champions League action on Wednesday with a mouth-watering clash against Paris Saint-Germain at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic. The Catalans will be aiming to make it two wins from two in the league phase, having defeated Newcastle United on MD1.

As per Diario AS, Hansi Flick spoke on the clash during his pre-match press conference, during which he admitted that he sees his Barcelona side as favourites to take the victory against last season’s champions.

“We have to work on our game plan. Tomorrow we are not going to have it easy, because PSG also want the ball, they press well. From the first second to the final minute, we have to play at our highest level. This is the Champions League. We are Barcelona. We’re favourites, but this is hard work, a long road.”

The lead-up to the match has been dominated by injury blows, of which Barcelona have been affected as much as PSG. Flick gave his thoughts on whether he sees it as a good time for his side to take on the Ligue 1 giants.

“You never know (if this is a good time to play PSG). It’s a different competition, we played against the best team last season. I love the style they have. I love their players and their coach. The calendar is part of this business, you have to handle the issue of injuries. Every coach wants to have their players ready to play, but it’s part of the game. What we hope is that it will be a good match.

Flick addresses goalkeeper, striker situations

Flick was asked about how he sees Wojciech Szczesny ahead of his second appearance of the season, stepping in for the injured Joan Garcia. He also gave a cryptic answer on who his starter striker will be in Montjuic.

“Of course I see him ready. We won three titles last season with him in goal, I said it the other day.

“In the 90 minutes, we’ll need both. We’ll see who starts next.”
