Hansi Flick calls up 16-year-old versatile Barcelona prodigy to first-team training | OneFootball

Ever since he took over the reins at FC Barcelona, Hansi Flick has made it a point to provide as many opportunities as possible for youth prospects coming through La Masia.

Be it in the form of training sessions with the first team, minutes in friendly games, or even a chance to travel with the squad and play in matches with the senior setup, the German tactician has not been shy of betting on La Masia.

Baba Kourouma gets a chance to train with the first team

In another such occurrence, Hansi Flick called up teenage wonderkid Baba Kourouma to first-team training today, on the eve of the game against Real Oviedo, reports Sergi Capdevila.

Born in 2009, Kourouma is the younger brother of former Barcelona midfielder Ilaix Moriba, and is one of the most talented young prospects coming through the ranks at La Masia.

An extremely versatile player, the 16-year-old is capable of playing in defence, midfield, or attack.

Indeed, Kourouma can operate as a centre-back, a left-back, a defensive midfielder, or even as a winger.

Given his quality and immense potential, he has already been promoted to Barcelona’s Juvenil A setup despite being only 16.

A player tipped for a bright future at the club, Kourouma signed a three-year contract back in May and has now gotten a taste of first-team training today.

With the number of injury-enforced absentees like Lamine Yamal, Fermin Lopez, and Gavi, there may be an outside chance that the teenage gem gets a call-up.
