In a little over a week, Hansi Flick will start FC Barcelona’s pre-season campaign as he begins preparations for his first season in charge of the club.

Barça players not tied up at the Euros or Copa America have been asked to report for pre-season on July 10 as the new manager gets a chance to take a closer look at what he has to work with.

Given the number of players away on international duty, Flick is also expected to call up players from the youth and reserve teams for pre-season and give the youngsters a chance to impress.

As has already been reported, the 59-year-old manager has already informed young midfielder Marc Bernal to join the first-team pre-season. Now, another youth prospect is pencilled to join him.

Noah Darvich called up for pre-season

Indeed, as per SPORT’s Toni Juanmarti, Hansi Flick has called up Barcelona youngster Noah Darvich to do the pre-season with the senior team starting on July 10.

Darvich, 17, joined Barcelona last year and went through a year of adaptation, alternating between the Juvenil A and Barça Atletic sides, although he largely played for Rafa Marquez’s team in the second half of the season.

Darvich had some issues getting accustomed to a new way of playing and a new environment, but showed signs of progress and is now prepared to take the next step.

Flick and his coaching staff know the young attacking midfielder well, with one of his assistants, Heiko Westermann, having watched him closely with the German Under-17 national team.

As such, the new Barcelona manager is eager to see what Darvich can offer and has called him up to start the pre-season with the senior team next week.
