Hansi Flick confirms fresh Barcelona injury blow | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has on Saturday confirmed a fresh injury blow in his squad.

This comes amid confirmation that Andreas Christensen, amid ongoing efforts to return to the pitch, has suffered a setback.

Defender Christensen, for his part, has taken to the pitch on just a solitary occasion across the season to date.

This comes after a long-term Achilles problem for the Dane was followed by a calf issue picked up in training late in January.

Christensen had since ramped up his fitness levels once more, expected to take his place in Barcelona’s matchday squad to face Real Sociedad on Sunday as a result.

As alluded to above, however, this will not prove to be the case.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Saturday, Hansi Flick confirmed that Christensen ‘had to leave training before the end’ once more this morning, due to an injury:

“We have Andreas, but what I can say now is that he got injured in training today. He was an option for us for tomorrow, but he got injured again. We have to wait to see how serious it is. We hope it is not serious, but he had to leave training before the end.”
