Hansi Flick confirms intention to keep Barcelona star beyond transfer deadline | OneFootball

Barcelona are determined to continue finalising departures up until Friday’s transfer deadline. Ilkay Gundogan has already left, and he will soon be followed by Vitor Roque, Clement Lenglet and Mikayil Faye. The expectation is that others will also depart, which would free up the necessary salary space for Dani Olmo and one/two other signings to be registered.

One player that has been strongly linked with exiting the club is Ansu Fati. The 21-year-old earns a very high salary, and if he were to leave, it would undoubtedly help Barcelona in their efforts to lighten their wage bill.

Club bosses want Fati to be loaned out, but they are likely to be overruled by Hansi Flick. The Barcelona head coach told the media (via Sport) on Saturday that he is planning to have Fati in his squad for this season.

“I hope he returns to the same level he showed in pre-season; we have to take care of him.”

Fati is currently recovering from a foot injury, and he is expected to return in the coming weeks. If Flick gets his way, he’ll still be wearing Barcelona colours.
