Opportunities in the FC Barcelona first team are a rarity for even the biggest of stars in the football world. To compete at that highest level, players need to display a certain understanding of the game that meets the club’s high demands. However, if a player meets those demands, age is never a factor to disqualify someone at Barcelona.

That has been the reality of the club in recent seasons as most of their outstanding players have been extraordinary youngsters. These players, despite their young age, remain the forefront of the club’s effort to revive their place among the elites of European football.

Record-breakers such as Lamine Yamal have already made their place in the Barcelona first team, and it is not by sheer luck that more new talents continue to emerge and showcase their talents at the biggest stage. However, it would appear that Barça may have another gem ready to pop off on the big stage.

As highlighted by SPORT, 16-year-old Guille Fernandez was recently removed from the latest Barcelona Atletic squad list in order to allow him to continue training with the first team under the orders of Hansi Flick. For the past week already, the player has remained under the German tactician’s wing, and an opportunity against Girona may be on the cards for him.

A recent display of brilliance from the young talent with Barcelona Atletic seems to have pushed the player’s value up in the eyes of his senior coaches. Naturally, it only makes sense that he is now being looked at more carefully and may even get a big chance to feature in the first team.

Given how crucial he can be for Barcelona Atletic, removing his name from the squad list points to a very likely possibility. As a result of that omission, there could be a great chance that the youngster ends up finding a place in the final squad for the upcoming clash against Girona.

A massive opportunity for any player, and perhaps even more so for a player his age. He already has great precedents to follow, Lamine Yamal being one of them, and it is only his own limitations that will end up stopping him from not being able to play his best football.
