Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is giving consideration to affording a debut call-up to youngster Tommy Marqués for the club’s next outing.

The name of midfielder Tommy has all of a sudden emerged as a prominent one in the chatter in Catalunya’s capital across the day to date.

This comes after the Spanish youth international, on the day of his 19th birthday, was drafted into first-team training at the Ciutat Esportiva for the first time ever.

With Pedri having this week joined Gavi in being condemned to a long-term spell on the sidelines, Tommy was afforded the chance to make up the numbers in Barca’s senior ranks.

And a special few days for the deep-lying midfielder could well continue through the weekend.

As per a report from Diario Sport, amid the ongoing injury crisis in Hansi Flick’s squad, Tommy ‘could be one of the surprises’ in the Blaugrana’s matchday setup to face Elche on Sunday.
