Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided his take on the red card handed to Atlético Madrid counterpart Diego Simeone during the week.
Tactician Simeone of course took his place centre stage in the headlines across Europe this past Wednesday.
As much came after the Argentine allowed his emotions to get the better of him for the latest occasion.
After Liverpool netted a last-gasp winner in Atlético’s Champions League opener at Anfield, Simeone exploded towards the home crowd.
Finally losing his cool with an abusive group of home supporters, the 55-year-old was dragged away from the scene by the security presence in attendance at the clash.
From here, Simeone was shown a straight red card, facing up to a potentially lengthy sanction as a result.
Speaking to the media in his latest press conference on Saturday, the subject of Wednesday’s chaos in Liverpool was in turn put to the aforementioned Hansi Flick.
And Barcelona’s headmaster appeared sympathetic towards his Atléti counterpart, in responding:
“Simeone’s outburst at Anfield? Sometimes these things happen to me, but for me, I focus more on the match and my team. However, it’s not pleasant to hear such insults from the crowd. In the end, everyone is different, and I won’t talk about what happened with Simeone because it’s about his feelings, and I understand that. But it varies from one person to another.”
