Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has moved to defend summer signing Marcus Rashford, following a somewhat underwhelming competitive debut appearance for the Englishman in Blaugrana colours.
Barcelona were of course back in action on Saturday evening.
Kicking the defence of their La Liga title into gear, the Catalans made the trip to Son Moix, for a meeting with RCD Mallorca.
En route to an eventual 3-0 triumph, the aforementioned Rashford was introduced to proceedings off the bench during the 2nd-half.
The 27-year-old struggled to make an impact, however, drawing criticism for one particular dribble attempt which saw him completely lose track of the ball.
Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle in Mallorca, the subject of Rashford’s showing was in turn put to the aforementioned Hansi Flick.
And Barca’s headmaster made use of the opportunity to back the attacker, explaining:
“Rashford didn’t have the chance to play more freely because Mallorca was crowded at the back, also the team played with less intensity, and I wasn’t happy about that.”
