After his very good start to the season at FC Barcelona, Dani Olmo saw his rapid incorporation at the Blaugrana club disturbed due to an unfortunate injury.

Fortunately, the midfielder has already recovered from this issue and was available for the last La Liga game against Sevilla, which the Blaugranes won with a 5-1 scoreline. He was also expected to get some minutes in this game, to get back to his best shape ahead of the crunch games against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

However, the former RB Leipzig forward did not step on the pitch, despite the favourable scoreline that Barcelona enjoyed in the second half.

The Spanish outlet SPORT has provided some details on why Flick decided not to bring the Spaniard onto the pitch for this game. The report claims that the player himself was keen to play some minutes after not having been able to participate in the last seven games.

But Flick did not even get him to start warming up, as the report claims that the €60m-rated player’s entourage had warned Barcelona about a possible relapse, and had advised the coaching staff to be calm and prudent with him. Consequently, Flick did not take any risks with him, as he believes he could be a fundamental part of his team going forward.

With the advice of not speeding up his recovery process, Olmo is not expected to start the upcoming match against Bayern Munich on Wednesday at the Montjuic Stadium. But he can have some minutes in this game, especially if Barcelona are able to get ahead of their rivals.

However, the coaching staff is not looking to take any risks with him, and his participation in the Bayern game is not guaranteed. And if he does not get any minutes against the Bavarians, he might also not start the next game against Real Madrid.
