Hansi Flick discusses Barcelona star’s potential sale | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has this week provided an update on the future of defensive star Ronald Araújo.

This of course comes amid ongoing speculation surrounding a potential Blaugrana departure for the Uruguayan.

Araújo is for his part fresh off an altogether difficult campaign in Catalunya’s capital in 2024/25.

After spending the opening half of the term sidelined through injury, the 26-year-old then struggled badly in efforts to rediscover his best form.

Such woes gave rise to widespread calls on the part of the Barcelona fanbase for Araújo to be moved on this summer.

To date, no such move has been forthcoming, with those in a position of power at the Camp Nou having repeatedly assured that the stopper features prominently in their plans for the future.

And on Wednesday, the aforementioned Hansi Flick moved to reiterate the same message once more.

Drawn on Araújo’s place in his plans during an exchange with the media earlier today, Barcelona’s headmaster responded:

“Why would he leave? There are always a lot of rumours, but I haven’t seen any sign that makes me think he’ll go. We have a very complete squad, with even three players for some positions. That’s good for us, it’s going to be a tough season.”
