Hansi Flick has personally asked Barcelona board to renew one player’s contract | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has asked those in a position of power at the club to sanction a contract renewal for a member of his backline.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Eric García as the player in question.

Defender Eric has for his part of course played an increasingly prominent role in Catalunya’s capital over recent weeks.

After Jules Koundé was condemned to a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, the versatile Eric was tasked with filling in at right-back in Barcelona’s squad.

And the former Manchester City man has since gone on to do a thoroughly impressive job of as much.

So much so that his form has culminated in a direct request on the part of Hansi Flick for Eric to have his contract terms renewed.

As per a report from Sport, with the Spanish international having now proven himself a more than useful rotation option in a trio of positions:

‘Flick has asked for his renewal’ this summer.

Eric, whose current terms are due to expire in 12 months’ time, is now expected to be rewarded with a new deal through 2028.
