FC Barcelona have a crucial match awaiting them as they take on SL Benfica tonight in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie.

Last night, Hansi Flick addressed his customary press conference ahead of a game, and one of the subjects he addressed in this presser was the potential return of Neymar to the Blaugrana team.

Meanwhile, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, the German tactician also spoke about two of his players, Gavi and Dani Olmo, who have been competing for the starting spot in attacking midfield this season, and will also be doing so for the match tonight.

Flick highlighted their different characteristics and the different benefits that these two players provide, but left it open to imagination on which of these two players will start tonight:

“Gavi can play in different positions, in defense, he wants to press, and he also has good movement with the ball. He knows how to play it and is doing very well. As for Olmo, he likes playing in that position, he’s very good at scoring goals and takes advantage of every opportunity, so he’s a great player.”

Gavi spent a significant part of this season on the sidelines as he was still recovering from the ACL tear that he suffered in 2023, and was able to play only in mid-October. After gradually getting him back to full fitness, Flick made him an important part of his team.

However, in recent weeks, Dani Olmo has been playing more often, and this was also the case in the last match against Real Sociedad, in which the Barcelona coach revealed that he was planning to start Gavi, but opted for Olmo as the former was suffering from fever.
