Hansi Flick hints at prominent role for another Barcelona youngster after senior debut | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has hinted that he is ready to afford regular game-time to an up-and-coming member of the club’s defensive ranks.

The player in question? Sergi Domínguez.

Stopper Domínguez, for his part, is fresh off an evening to remember on Saturday.

As much comes after the 19-year-old was afforded his first-ever senior appearance in the colours of Barcelona.

En route to the Blaugrana’s 7-0 La Liga drubbing of Real Valladolid, Domínguez was introduced off the bench, late in the action.

Barca, of course, find themselves short on central defensive options at present, owing to injuries to both Ronald Araújo, and Andreas Christensen.

And, speaking to the media in the aftermath of his side’s 4th win from four to open the campaign, the aforementioned Hansi Flick appeared to suggest that as much could open the door for further opportunities for Domínguez moving forward:

“Sergi Dominguez had a great preseason. He has improved a lot since then and that is why he played today. He will help us a lot.”
